Dallas police are searching for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice after a vehicle registered or leased to him was involved in a six-car accident Saturday, law enforcement officials confirmed to Kelli Smith and R.J. Coyle of the Dallas Morning News.

Smith and Coyle noted Rice’s alleged involvement in the accident is unclear. However, the vehicle is registered or leased in his name, so police are attempting to get in contact with the wideout, who grew up in the Dallas area.

Smith and Coyle provided additional details received from Dallas police:

Dallas police spokeswoman Kristin Lowman said the preliminary investigation determined a driver in a Chevrolet Corvette and a driver in a Lamborghini were speeding in the far left lane, near University Boulevard, where both lost control of their vehicles.

Lowman said the Lamborghini traveled onto the shoulder and ‘hit the center median wall, causing a chain reaction collision involving four other vehicles.’ The occupants of both the Lamborghini and the Corvette all ran from the crash without stopping to see if anyone needed medical help or providing any of their information, Lowman said.

Two drivers were treated at the crash site for minor injures, and two other people were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Lowman said police are still working to identify the suspects.

The police call sheet obtained by The News listed Rice as the suspected driver of the Corvette.

Smith and Coyle noted that “Rice was not appearing in Dallas County jail records as of about 9:50 a.m. Sunday. It was not immediately clear if he is suspected of any charges.”

The SMU product recorded 79 receptions for 938 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023 after being taken in the second round of last year’s draft. He hauled in six receptions for 39 yards in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers, setting an NFL rookie record for postseason receptions (26) in the process.
